Judges Announced For Digital Equality Awards
CODE, a network connecting local and international stakeholders to address the digital gender divide and drive sustainable economic growth in Africa, has announced judges for the inaugural ‘Digital Equality Awards’ in Ghana and Uganda.
The Digital Equality Awards seek to recognise digital impact makers in Ghana and Uganda in order to promote and amplify their work.
The judges are:
ROSEMARY MUTYABULE
Rosemary Mutyabule holds a Masters degree in Business Administration — Corporate Strategy and Economic Policy with Distinction, and an Upper Second Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Social Administration.
She is an Enterprise Development Specialist with versatile experience in small enterprise promotion and private sector development. Over the last 26 years, she has worked with dynamic private sector support institutions notably Uganda Investment Authority (10 years) and currently with Enterprise Uganda (16 years) at senior management level.
As a result of 26 years of experience, Rosemary has developed professional expertise in the delivery of business solutions to SMEs; mentoring, coaching and nurturing of MSMEs especially women; training of businesses in entrepreneurship and a range of business management skills; provision of business counseling and advisory services to SMEs; policy advocacy aimed at creating an enabling environment for small and medium enterprises; working with multiple stakeholders in SME development in both private and public sectors, including financial institutions; resource mobilization; design and implementation of projects; and managing donor funded projects including development of work plans and budgets.
EDWIN ZU-CUDJOE
Edwin Zu-Cudjoe is the Executive Director of Social Enterprise Ghana, the national network of about 700 social enterprises operating in Ghana. Edwin is the Founder of SocialFarm Company Ltd, an agribusiness social enterprise in Ghana.
He has 14 years’ work experience in trade and investment promotion, training and business development having worked with Voltic, Vodafone, Glo and Ansa Systems Ltd in various senior management positions.
He has a first degree from University of Ghana, Legon and an MBA in Global Business and Sustainability-Social Entrepreneurship from Catholic University of Sacred Heart, Milan. He is also a graduate in MSc Development Finance (SME Finance and FDI) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi Ghana.
He is a strong advocate for policies that promote social and green businesses and inter-regional trade.
DR. SHEENA LOVIA BOATENG
Dr. Sheena Lovia Boateng is a lecturer at the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of Ghana Business School. She is the first female to complete a PhD in Marketing from the University of Ghana and is also the founder of the Women in Tertiary Education (WITE) Network, which seeks to provide support for women pursuing tertiary education in their academic research, family life and career balance.
She is a fellow of the Academy of Marketing Science. She also served as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Emerald Emerging Markets Case Study Journal, Emerald Publishing Limited, UK, from 2018 to 2020. She has published seven journal publications, three books, four book chapters, five published conference papers, one working paper and one industry report.
Dr. Sheena Lovia Boateng’s academic work has been published in the International Journal of Bank Marketing, Journal of Financial Services Marketing, Smart Learning Environments and the Journal of Educational Technology Systems. Her research interests include online relationship marketing, fashion and beauty marketing, digital business strategy, electronic learning adoption, entrepreneurship, online branding and advertising, social media marketing and structural equational modelling in marketing.
Since beginning her doctoral career, she has collaborated with other faculty from different universities to obtain not less than US $200,000 in research and project funds. These research and project funds have been obtained from organisations including Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), World Bank and United States International Development Agency (USAID) and the African Development Bank (AFDB).
REBECCA NAMATOVU
Rebecca Namatovu is a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Strategy and Innovation at the Copenhagen Business School. Prior to joining CBS, Rebecca held a position as a senior lecturer at Makerere University Business School, Uganda. Her research interests lie at the intersection of entrepreneurship and development studies. She studies how resource constraints and institutional inefficiencies influence firm behaviour.
Her work has been published in the Journal of business venturing and Academy of Management Learning and Education. Rebecca serves at the editorial review board of the Africa Journal of Management.
She serves on the board of Street Business School a social venture whose mission is to end extreme poverty by empowering women as entrepreneurs. SBS teaches other organizations on how to implement our proven and effective business training.
